Star Wars Coming to Disney World December 1st

Back in August the news we'd all been waiting for was released-- Star Wars was officially coming to Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World... Or at least a significantly expanded version of what we already have with Star Tours.

Today we heard some additional details of near term Star Wars attractions. Opening on December 1st will be several new experiences to help tie us over until the opening of the much larger Star Wars Land!

First up will be Star Wars Launch Bay coming to the old Animation Courtyard. his experience will take guests into the Star Wars saga and the upcoming film, Star Wars: The Force Awakens. There will be awesome special exhibits and peeks behind-the-scenes of the new movie. The area will be capped off with special merchandise and characters encounters with Chewbacca and Darth Vader.

Another addition will be an update to Star Tours: The Adventure Continues. When the ride was updated just a few years ago one of the new features highlighted is the ability to seamlessly add new show scenes. The ride will now feature a special scene from the upcoming new movie. And in a few months the new scene will be added into the regular rotation of the ride.

And the Jedi Training Academy will also be revamped. The Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple will take younglings to the secret site of an ancient Jedi temple where they will face Darth Vader along with the Seventh Sister – a new villain from the Disney XD series “Star Wars Rebels.”
