Maximizing Summer Break

As my kids finish up their last days of school before summer break usually the first thing I think is “what am I going to do with them all summer?” This year I’ve decided to think about all of the thing I CAN do with them! As we look forward to sleeping in and staying in our jammies until noon, indulging in summer camps, and eating 8,000 popsicles by the pool I know how lucky I am to have the whole summer with my kiddos. I am so fortunate that I not only get to do a job I love, but I get to do it at home so I don’t miss a moment of the summer fun. The big question is how will I make the most of our time?

For me, the answer is almost always the same: explore the world as a family!

Of course for us that almost always includes a planned summer vacation, but it also means a few unplanned trips to destinations that aren’t too far. Vacations don’t have to be expensive, or planned months in advance. We love taking 2 night trips to the beach or to cities nearby where we can do something new! For us this year those trips will include a 1 night stay at the beach so my kids can go to surfing camp, a quick trip to the hill country where we can relax at a resort and spend time at the waterpark, and a long trip to grandma’s house where we can explore in a totally different way!
